Holiday!

Sunday 26th June – Saturday 2nd July. All this floating round the coast is very nice, but I’m a nanny as well as a mum, so I need to see my babies. We caught the high speed sea cat to Poole where my oldest baby Ben picked us up. We arrived late and as he’s based in Southampton we headed over to there to eat. We arrived at a Beefeater at 9:10pm and they’d finished serving for the night…as had the next 3 places we tried, so we ended up in McDonalds at 10:10!! We spent the next day getting the injector pump for the generator repaired, a visit to the Drs, and visiting, spending the night at my sister and brother-in-laws. Tuesday I was up bright and early (7:30am!!) to catch a plane up to Scotland. It was a bumpy flight and an even bumpier landing but I didn’t care, my beautiful granddaughter Bella was the other end! We had a lovely few days with my youngest baby Jamie, his wife Pod and baby Bella. As per usual it was wet most of the time so we went to the aquarium Wednesday and relaxed at home Thursday.  Bella is just under 6 months old and so alert, she loved the aquarium!

We caught the morning flight Friday back to Stanstead, then set off to Portsmouth where we met Ben and his mate Tom to give the car back.

We had a nice Italian and leisurely set off for the port. We were saying our goodbyes when I got a phone call from Condor Ferries asking if we were travelling- they’d just given the final call to board! So we were rushed through security and bundled into a van which drives you out to the boat. They obviously have different arrival times for the ferry to the sea cat! Our boat was meant to leave at 7:30pm and arrive at 03:00am, but tidal restrictions and port movements meant they’d changed our route to go via Jersey and arrive at 08:00am. On that basis no way was I going to sit in the cafe or bar all night so we booked a room and the nice man knocked £44 off the price and upgraded us to an outside cabin with window.

They then announced it was blowing a force 6 out there and we would be in for a rough  ride, great!! We had a drink in the bar and watched the football then turned in for the night. I felt fine and slept quite well until Rory woke me up at 05:30am and said come on get up, we’ve got a full English breakfast included in this. It was really rough out and with no seasickness pills in me I felt awful. We bounced off the walls down the corridor to the cafe where a breakfast was put in front of me 😩😷. I ate some of it all the while looking over the waves at the horizon trying not to throw up. (If I’m really honest I did feel a bit better once I’d eaten something) then at 07:00am we went back to our cabin and waited to dock.

I’m glad to be home after a hectic week and have a top-up of Bella cuddles to keep me happy for a while. Now plotting our escape from Guernsey.

PS I’ve kept check on Puzzler while I’ve been gone courtesy of Guernsey web-cam. Bottom left, I’ll give you a wave!
